The Morning After
I have been thinking about this a little more. I still love my Lodge plain cast iron. I am still not getting expensive stuff.
Although, based purely on colour, I like the creamy Staub lemon yellow better than the Le Creuset Dijon. Either way, the made is France pots have a nice shape.
The thing that has given me some pause is this: I also adore my Kitchen Aid enameled pot. Kitchen Aid is famous for it’s stand mixers in glorious colours….. so why aren’t they making enameled cast iron in all the wonderful colors their mixers come in?
Kitchen Aid has clearly hired the good colour consultants…. who wouldn’t love a set of enameled cookware to match their mixer? Picture it: a white kitchen where the stand mixer, and cook ware all match and provide the accent colour. ANY of those glorious colours would be a perfect accent. A white and red kitchen? Beautiful! White and green apple? Amazing! White and stainless and ice blue? Drool!
I’m not really taking about doing a complete kitchen over haul just so I can have an all white kitchen (especially with I have kids and a tractor loving hubby) with thousands of dollars of coloured cast iron in it….. I am just amazed that no one at Kitchen Aid has made that a possibility.
My much used Kitchen Aid enamel pot is currently only available in one size and one colour. It’s garnet and it doesn’t match any of their mixers. But it does a heck of a good job, and I am very happy to have it.
