Not spring yet

Why is it that I get a couple of days of sunshine and suddenly temperatures which would have been lovely and warm two weeks ago have me breaking out the heavy duty warm clothes?  Does all my winter cold weather tolerance really fade that quickly?

Yes.  Mostly because I put away the heavy duty winter clothes and want to wear real shoes instead of boots even though the temperatures are back below freezing.  Darn it!  I wanted to bike to work this weekend…..

Maybe next weekend.

In the mean time, I am thinning my bike collection.  V’s really cool city bike has gone to the LBS for consignment sales.  The ill fated Peugeot is for sale on Kijiji.  That one bothers me.  It is a beautiful bike that I should have known better than buying.  I hoped it would be for V someday.  I don’t know enough about road bikes to buy one for someone else.  Anyway, I am making room in case anything nice and useful turns up.  I’m just about ready to give my father in law his rebuild folding bike back.  I will be a little sorry to see it go.  It’s a generic 1970’s bike.  If it were a Raleigh, I would have been even more tempted to keep it.

I am trying to find a vintage kids bike for Little Girl, but the one ad I found turned out to be for a frankenbike when I saw it.  $150 is a good price for a vintage kids bike in good condition, but not when it is three kids bikes all cobbled together.  I was really, really disappointed to see that.  The ad was so full of promise.  It just got my hopes up for when it was not as described.

But it isn’t spring yet.  I still have time to get the bikes all sorted out so I can start teaching Little girl how to balance.
