The previously mentioned etsy yarn arrived a few weeks ago while the painters where here. Poor guys! I don’t shop on the internet much, but I received two internet packages, had someone come and take away clothes the girls had out grown and had someone else bring stuff her kids had out grown. Everyday they were here there was some sort of disruption.

The yarn quality is really REALLY nice. But the pink, orange, yellow blend known as Spring Melon is decidedly orange. It is lovely, but if I knit it up with the green (also lovely) it won’t be a Dimwell Old Pals football club scarf. (10 points if you get it with out using Google) The melon colour is too nice to send back.

So I am knitting up a Hitchhiker Scarf using the pattern from Ravelry.  It’s a quick, relatively easy pattern once you get going.  However, as a newbie, I would not call this pattern as easy as it is ranked by Ravelry members.  You need to know how to KFB, that is not a beginner skill.  I had to get the ladies at knitting to show me know.  Several times.

There are two distinct ways to hold your knitting and what motions to use as you knit.  I have come to the conclusion that you pretty much have to find someone who knits the same way you do to show you any additional stitches you need to learn.   I can’t imagine what would happen if you ad left and right knitters into the mix.

Unfortunately, C knits the other way from what I do.  She only knits.  She doesn’t purl, cast on or cast off.  I can’t help her learn those things any more than the nice knitting group ladies could teach me KFB.  If I had known she needed help before the end of summer, they could have taught her.

I guess that is the other news, the big girls are back at their mom’s house for the last part of summer vacation.  T’s work has hit the busy period and for us, summer is OVER.

I do tend to ramble a bit, don’t I?

Back to knitting: I ordered more wool in just pink this time, not painted.  I still want the Dimmer’s scarf.  C had me order some wool for her to for a really nice scarf, that (it turns out) she wants me to knit for her.  I guess that will be one Christmas or Birthday present down.

I am also completely frogged on the sweater I started last December.  I am almost ready to rip it all out and start again.  After I finish the Hitchhiker scarf and the Dimmer’s scarf and whatever thing C wants…

At some point, I will knit a sweater.

I have enough to make two. Let me know if you still like it at the end and I’ll send it to you…

I am going to have WAY too many scarves by the end of this.
