Home worries

In 2004 Pacific Home Products installed a brand new, triple glazed Pella window in the front of our house.  They looked great.  They passed the Energy Guide Inspection.  Everything was fine.

Until we took the shutters to paint.

Now, I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure the window isn’t supposed to stick out from the wall that far.  I’m also pretty sure that the untreated wood shouldn’t be exposed to the elements and that I shouldn’t be able to slide my finger between the window and the house.

The problem is that until we took the shutters off, we couldn’t see how bad it was.  So, I have contacted Pacific Home Products and the owner is coming to look at it.  Since they are still in business, I’m pretty sure this can’t be indicative of their usual standards.  I really hope they do the right thing and help us find a way to fix this.  If they don’t, I don’t know what I’m going to do.  The window cost $2500 in 2004 (I still have the paper work).  We can’t afford to replace it.  I guess I could contact Pella next.

I’m hoping this is just that I fell victim to a bad installer who no longer works there.  I am really hoping they take care of this for me.  In the mean time, my anxiety level is through the roof.

    If it makes you feel any better, we’re going to be replacing our living room windows and this might help us know who NOT to go with… That really sucks. We trust professionals to do a good job, especially when we pay them well.

    To be fair, if they turn up and make this right – that would be amazing customer service! THAT would make them the kind of company you want.

    I’m hoping they do the right thing.
