Where’s Waldo? He’s with Daddy!

OK, not quite.  Toddler girl woke up determined to find T this morning.

My day is usually very full of stuff that doesn’t involve or revolve around T.  He is at work during the day after all.  However in the last day and a half, I seem to be spending a lot of time distracting Toddler girl from “Daddy GONE!”  I suspect that some of this is her picking up on MY missing him, but not all of it.

Yesterday we took the not-exactly-Ricotta on the road and went over for supper with the very nice ladies Toddler girl has named “The Aunties.”   We biked to see Auntie ‘Essie and Auntie ‘Rene and Annie puppy and kitty and Grumpy Face.  They fed us some lovely panko breaded fish that I will have to try making at home sometime.  She ran around on their deck and ate their strawberries.   They graciously put up with me until I judged she was tired enough to fall asleep in the bike on the way home.

She did, but as we were biking past the U where T works she woke up and started screaming that we had to go get Daddy RIGHT NOW!  As previously stated, I can’t balance the bike with her flailing in the baby seat.  So we went to the U and locked up the bike and she banged on the locked doors and screamed for her daddy for a while.  Then I gave her a big hug and held her still until she calmed down enough for me to suggest we go look for Daddy at home.  We both had a little cry.  I’m not normally a crier, but she was so heartbroken and full of despair that it got to me.

She fell asleep in the bike again on the way home and (after another brief search for T when we got home) went to bed without too much trouble.

Anyway.  My point is that I would usually go grocery shopping today.  Tuesday is the day I take the car for running around.   Today, I wonder how much time I’m going to spend doing toddler distraction and how much of that is going to be mommy distraction too.
